Find the California condor! North America’s largest flying birds with wingspans up to 10 feet, have made a remarkable comeback in Zion National Park, Utah, after being extinct in the wild in the 1980s. Once down to just 22 individuals globally, their population now exceeds 500, with around 70-100 roaming the Arizona-Utah region, including Zion. The park’s towering cliffs, like those near Angels Landing and Kolob Terrace Road, provide ideal nesting and soaring grounds for these scavengers, which can travel 200 miles daily in search of carrion.
